New Service for Business Professionals and Entrepreneurs to Proactively Pitch Their Expertise and Story Ideas to the Media in a Data Hungry, Content Starved World

Boston, MA (PRWEB) January 24, 2012

Proactive Publicity is the natural evolution of the way industry experts can leverage media exposure for business success in a data hungry, content starved world. This new service takes a proactive approach for busy professionals and entrepreneurs to pitch their expertise and story ideas to the media. Proactive Publicity saves the media time and money by providing private access to experts and story ideas with the click of a mouse.

Created by Diva Toolbox? Chief Executive Officer, Janet Powers, Proactive Publicity extends the success of the Diva Toolbox?s model of proactively publishing women in business on major media blogs to proactively promoting the knowledge and story ideas of all business professionals to an extensive network of reporters, writers and other media professionals.

?Proactive Publicity adds a new content stream for media publications?, says Powers. ?It is disastrous for any on line media publication not to have fresh content on their site daily; without fresh content, readers will not return to the site and site revenues from subscriptions and advertisements will suffer.?

Identifying the business professionals and industry experts who can provide input for current events and topics as well as developing new story ideas is a time consuming and costly job for any media outlet. Proactive Publicity will solve this problem for the media by maintaining a database of experts and story ideas by industry so it is quick and easy for the media to publish the fresh content their audience demands.

Industry experts and service professionals know that media exposure can be a game changer for their business. Being featured in a major media story brings additional credibility and extensive visibility to an expert?s brand and business, but they simply do not have the time or dedicated resources to do anything about it. This service will do it for them and the expert's time commitment is about one hour per month.

By connecting the two groups, Proactive Publicity adds to the traditional model of the media pitching story ideas to the experts, a complementary model where the experts can promote their own ideas to the media.

Engineer Proofs and Presents Better Content, Using TextAloud

Clemmons, NC (PRWEB) March 22, 2011

Project engineer Paul Blanzy divides his time between civilian and military work, a major part of which involves the management and presentation of huge amounts of text content. To help Paul absorb, proof, and even present that content, he turns to TextAloud, the popular Text to Speech program from NextUp.com. TextAloud helps users like Paul export almost any electronic text into spoken audio that can be listened to on a PC, or output to popular MP3 or other audio file formats for listening on iPhones (R) iPods (R), laptops, MP3 players, PDAs and more.

"I like TextAloud because it helps me understand how my writing comes across to people," comments Paul, who listens to his important e-mails, letters and speeches using the Text to Speech software in order to objectively hear inflection, tone of voice, and pacing that differs from his own. "This gives me insight into how my written words may come across to the recipient, and not just how I meant them to be read."

Paul, a resident of St. Charles, Missouri, first discovered the software after searching for a Text to Speech reader for self-study materials that might enable him to share spiritual references, Bible readings or personalized sermons. "I was looking for a way to hear specific content that was not available through 'books on tape,' and which would allow me to choose specific sections I wanted to hear without having to wade through too much that I didn't," he adds.

Paul soon found a multitude of additional uses for TextAloud, using the software for everything from listening to his e-mails and other content while driving, to testing out the text for speeches and presentations using voices such as 'Lauren,' an optional Premium Voice from AT&T Natural Voices (TM), as well as other pleasant and realistic AT&T Natural Voices (TM) like 'Ray' and 'Julia.' "This approach helped me to make sure I was able to be light-hearted, but sincere, without sounding corny or mushy," he adds. He soon discovered other uses for the software, turning to TextAloud to assist him with a customer presentation during a transitional period at work, and using it during his commute. "That was a big help," he adds."I was on 'active duty' and drove to my office for an hour each way every day. I tried podcasts for a while, but it was too hit-and-miss on good ones, and there was little control over the content." Instead, Paul began to make his own Text to Speech collections, putting the MP3 files onto CD for listening in the car.

TextAloud also proved helpful on an aspect of life almost every computer user has experienced -- that of maintaining objectivity while reading or responding to e-mails, even on emotional or stressful issues. By using Text to Speech to listen to those e-mails, Paul was able to listen objectively while removing the emotion too easily read into a discussion or topic. "Letting 'Lauren' read e-mails to me in her more dispassionate voice helps me to pause and see things from the sender's perspective," he comments. "Doing this can really save a lot of grief on both sides of the screen." Paul not only used the approach for listening to his inbox, but for evaluating his own e-mails before sendout, as well.

For others embarking on using Text to Speech, Paul advises that they listen to samples of several choices to really find the voices they'll respond to best. "I have trouble hearing higher frequencies, for instance," he comments, "so a lower voice works best for me on some stuff." He also utilizes different voices for different tasks, listening to female voices for some documents, and male voices on presentations or technical items. Paul's use of Text to Speech now ranges through most of his computing tasks, from e-mails, presentations and documents, to his latest endeavors of blogging and podcasting. He's even using his text to speech files to help him with self-affirmation and self-hypnosis!

"Ultimately, TextAloud gives me great insight into how others will read or hear my words," Paul comments. "I've also achieved deeper understanding overall when listening to content read aloud to me, and I'll even read along sometimes on items for study, for a double-whammy of learning. TextAloud is easy to use, and it really makes my written and spoken words that much more effective."

TextAloud Opens Up a New World of Content for One Visually Disabled New Yorker

Clemmons, NC (PRWEB) April 19, 2011

Like many people around the world, Jordan Star enjoys reading and web surfing in his free time, but his legal blindness can make this difficult for the Long Island resident, even when he uses screen readers created especially for the blind. However, Jordan soon discovered a new solution in TextAloud, as the Text to Speech software by NextUp.com provided a handy and easy to use assistive alternative. Soon, he was using TextAloud on a constant basis to support almost all his text listening activities, whether by computer, portable device, iPhone (R), and more.

Jordan's visual disability has progressed over time, so as his eyesight worsened, he began to research his options for assistive technologies. He found it harder and harder to see e-mails, for example, since people did not send e-mails in large text or font sizes even when he asked them to do so. He decided to try listening, instead. "I wanted a text reading program but was not willing to pay the very expensive prices required for the leading programs made specifically for the blind," says Jordan, explaining that both of the top text readers for the blind cost about $ 400, which was well outside his budget. Then he found TextAloud, which enabled him to disregard text size and listen to his correspondence entirely by ear -- and at a fraction of the budget of traditional screen readers.

"I found TextAloud to be a real help almost immediately, as it allowed me to convert e-text and eBooks to audio files very quickly and easily so that my active reading activities could continue," comments Jordan, who listens to his files on a multifunction Sony MP3/CD player. "This meant that I could now listen to books instead of trying to see to read them." Once the PC software became a mainstay for his regular reading, Jordan then discovered how to use TextAloud to listen to his e-mails and websites, which further eased the tension of his visual disability, and saved his eyes from strain and fatigue.

The more Jordan utilized TextAloud, the more uses he seemed to find for it. "TextAloud is affordable, and far easier to use than JAWS or ZoomText, which are Text to Speech programs that are popular with blind people (and which are very expensive)," he adds. Jordan also proofreads his e-mails by listening with TextAloud, with the huge array of optional Premium Voices available for the program another pleasant surprise. "The different voices are definitely another discovery for me," he adds. However, it's really the program's flexibility that he enjoys even more, as files can be converted to a variety of popular audio file formats, and can be played on almost anything, from iPhones (R) and iPods (R), even to televisions. "It's great to be able to listen to the multitude of eBooks available out there to enrich one's life. The quality and clarity of the voices is excellent, and adds variety -- they're not boring like too many other computer-generated voices in readers for the blind."

Jordan has now gone on to recommend TextAloud to his other friends in the blind community. "TextAloud has improved my life by enabling me to communicate more efficiently with friends and family," he comments. "I know that, in time, TextAloud will enhance my life further, and that I couldn't do things I want to do without it. It has opened a whole new world."

Award Winning Mac Content Creation Software Launched for Windows

Truro, United Kingdom (PRWEB) November 07, 2011

Literature & Latte Ltd is pleased to announce the launch of Scrivener 1.0 for Windows, available for purchase today, November 7th 2011. (http://www.scrivenerforwindows.com).

First launched for the Mac in 2007, Scrivener is an award-winning application dedicated to the structuring and composition of long texts such as novels, screenplays, reports, legal documents, theses and research documents.

Designed especially for creating first drafts of long documents by writers using multiple sources, unlike most word processors and page layout programs, Scrivener's toolset is dedicated to the creation of content rather than formatting.

Features such as split screen and the ability to import media documents including web pages, images, sound, video and PDF files allow writers to refer to research as they write, without switching between documents or programs.

Meanwhile, Scrivener's fully integrated corkboard and outliner allow users to plan ahead - or restructure their work after the first draft is finished.

A host of other tools such as statistics and targets and a name generator are also at users? fingertips.

Once completed, drafts can be printed directly from Scrivener, exported to a variety of common word processor file formats for final formatting and submission, or exported to e-book formats for self publishing.

Scrivener for Windows has been developed in response to requests from writers, academics and professionals seeking a PC-based program with the capabilities of Scrivener for the Mac.

Key features include:

Edit Multiple Documents
Split your project to create limitless documents in the same draft and edit them separately, or merge them dynamically and edit them as a whole.

Corkboard
Virtual index cards store a synopsis for every document you create. Storyboard and rearrange your project by moving these around on the corkboard.

Outline
A fully-featured outliner helps you take control of the structure of your work. Use the outliner to plan first and write later, or write first and use the outliner to make sense of that messy first draft.

Full Screen Editing
View your text in full screen for distraction-free composition.

Snapshots
Take a snapshot of a document then edit and rewrite in the confidence that you can restore an earlier revision at any time.

Collections
Create collections to keep arbitrary lists of documents and research, independent of their regular order. Track documents that need attention or use Saved Search Collections to generate automatically-updated lists of related documents.

Compile
Assemble your finished draft for printing or exporting to your favourite word processor for final formatting. Export to web or e-book formats for self-publishing. With support for footnotes and comments and the ability to reformat your work during this stage, you can produce submission-ready novel manuscripts and much more.

NOTES FOR EDITORS:

Scrivener has been enthusiastically adopted by a range of professionals including novelists, screenwriters, lawyers, journalists and academics, with bestselling novelist Michael Marshall Smith describing it as "the biggest software advance for writers since the word processor". Further testimonials can be viewed at?http://www.literatureandlatte.com/testimonials.html

Pricing:

A regular licence for Scrivener 1.0 for Windows is USD $ 40. An academic discount is available at USD $ 35.
